Within a music video it is esential to have a range and variety of editing styles in order to create and audience and artist and relationship to build. Some editing techniques that will be included in my music video is the use of quick editing, filters and slow editing. These editing techniques will add to the affect of the video and enhance the indie genre.
The first editing technique recgonized that we will be using in our video is the use of filters. Filters allow for the colour of the clip to change, adding lighter or darker colours allow for how the artist is feeling to be portryayed. Adding a lighter filter when the couple are seen together makes the audience believe that both people are happy in their relationship and enjoy being together. Moreover, adding a darker coloured filter over the footage will make the audience understand the negative sides of a relationship and portray and enhance the idea that the couple are not happy together. This helps to represent the artist and the feeling that she is feeling inside, this can build the audience and her relationship as they will be able to feel some sort of emotion for her and towards her situation.
Slow editing is another editing element that we will be including within our music video. We will be including slow editing when the couple are seen together. We have decided to use this element her in order to represent to the audience that when they are together time goes slowly, which enhances how intense and loving their relationship. The audience can ultimately relate to this editing style as they may have been in the same situation and could portray their own relationship. This editing style is conventional to the indie genre as it allows for the artists emotions to be shown in depth and allow for the audience to feel more connected.
The last editing technique that my group and I have decided on using is the use of quick editing when the couple are arguing and when theyre in camden. We have decided to do this as we believe that the quick ediitng will be able to show off the anger and fustration in which both people are feeling. The quick editing will make the music video much more fast pace, representing the idea that the relationship is moving extreemely quickly and for the artist its too much to handle. This is conventional to our genre it again allows for the artist feelings to be portrayed well and can build the artist and audience relationship.
Overall, we concluded that a vairety of camera shots would make the video more successful as the audience are able to see a wide range of different edits making it more appealing to them and give them a better understanding of what is occuring within the music video.
